Traveling by train is the way more comfortable, safe and popular to get to Machu Picchu. The route crosses spectacular landscapes of the Sacred Valley and follows the Urubamba River until reaching Machu Picchu Town (Aguas Calientes).

Currently, there are two authorized companies that operate tourist trains to Machu Picchu, with different services that adapt to all types of travelers.


Essential information about trains to Machu Picchu

Main route: Cusco / Sacred Valley – Machu Picchu Pueblo
Most used station: Ollantaytambo
Trip duration: 1 hour 30 minutes approx.
Final destination: Hot Waters

From Aguas Calientes you take a 25–30 minute bus to the entrance of Machu Picchu.
