Cusco - Urcos - Ocongate - Tinke - Pacchanta
The 7 Ausangate Lagoons are a group of beautiful lagoons located in the Cusco region, Peru, at the foot of the imposing Ausangate Mountain. This lagoon system is located in a stunning landscape of snow-capped mountains, deep valleys, and green grasslands, creating a unique contrast of colors. The lagoons, such as Ollacocha, Jatuncocha, and Puca Cocha, are famous for their crystal-clear waters and the mystical energy they emanate, surrounded by rich Andean biodiversity. Each of these lagoons has its own beauty and uniqueness, and is considered sacred by local communities, who believe that these waters have healing powers. The hike to the 7 Ausangate Lagoons is a challenging but spectacular trek, ideal for trekking and nature lovers.
Early at 4:00 a.m., the vehicle will pick you up at your hotel and head south to Cusco. Along the way, we'll pass through Oropesa, the "capital of artisanal bread," where the famous chutas are produced. We'll also pass through Andahuaylillas, Ccatca, picturesque villages, and other towns until we reach Ocongate, the most important town on this route. This will take us to Tinke, located at 4,100 meters above sea level. From here, we take a trail to Pacchanta. We leave our vehicles here and prepare to begin our hike. Also in Pacchanta, we'll find natural hot springs. At 7:30 a.m., we begin the hike along the streams that flow down the mountain. We'll spot vizcachas or wild rabbits. During our hike, we'll contemplate two very important glaciers: Cayancate and Apu Ocongate, sacred mountains. Since Inca times and to the present day, people hold a deep respect for their mountains. Thus, we arrive at the first lagoon called Puka Coccha, the highest one above the At 4,800 m / 15,748 ft, other lagoons are Comer Cocha, Azul Cocha, and Otorongo Cocha. The distances between lagoons are short, about 10 minutes of walking, so we will see all the lagoons and later return to the town of Pacchanta for lunch. Later, we will return to the city of Cusco, along with the wonderful and extraordinary experiences.
