Welcome to the historic capital of Peru! You've arrived in the historic capital of the Inca Empire, a place steeped in culture, traditions, and breathtaking landscapes. Enjoy its cobblestone streets, exquisite cuisine, and the warmth of its people. Our staff will greet you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel. Along the way, they will provide you with tips and advice on altitude sickness. This afternoon is free for you to acclimatize and relax. Later, we recommend visiting the Qosqo Native Art Center to observe the typical dances of Cusco.

Day 2: Fulfilling your dreams: Machu Picchu, one of the 7 wonders of the world

The long-awaited moment has finally arrived. We wake up early, have breakfast at the hotel, and head straight to the train station to begin our adventure on a picturesque train with breathtaking views of valleys, mountains, and magical sites en route to Machu Picchu Town. Our guide will be waiting for you at the train station to escort you from there to the buses. After 30 minutes aboard the transport that will finally take us to Machu Picchu, we will disembark and finally arrive at the entrance to the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu. You will have a private guided tour where you can discover the mysteries held by this very special place in the world, recharge your batteries, and visit viewpoints, temples, and the most important sites depending on the route you choose. After marveling at the beauty of this imposing human work, we will descend to Aguas Calientes or Machu Picchu Town to enjoy free time, have lunch (not included), and rest before boarding the return train. At the scheduled time, we'll take the train back to Ollantaytambo and then travel to Cusco in our private transportation. We'll arrive in the afternoon to enjoy our hotel stay in Cusco.

Day 3: Tour to Humantay Lagoon - A Natural Paradise in the Andes

We embark on an unforgettable adventure to Humantay Lagoon, a hidden gem in the Andes Mountains. This tour will take you to discover the turquoise waters of this impressive lagoon, surrounded by towering mountains and dreamy landscapes. Very early, around 4:30 am, we will pick you up from your hotel and head almost 2.0 km to Mollepata to enjoy a delicious buffet breakfast. Then, we will continue for another hour to our starting point. Once you are ready to begin our hike, our transportation will drop you off at an altitude of approximately 3,900 meters above sea level (12,800 feet). Here, we will begin the ascent to Humantay Lagoon, located at an altitude of approximately 4,200 meters above sea level (13,800 feet). This hike takes approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes to reach the highest point. It is a moderately difficult hike, but we assure you it will be completely worth it because upon arrival, you will discover the true treasure hidden in the mountains. If the trail becomes too difficult, you have the option of renting a horse to ascend to the lagoon (not included). After some free time, we will begin our descent for approximately 1.5 hours. The descent will be less intense, and we will be more than satisfied with having witnessed the beautiful turquoise waters of this enchanting lagoon. In Soraypampa, we will take the return shuttle to Mollepata, where we will enjoy a delicious lunch to recharge our batteries and rest our legs. En route, we can visit an artisanal ice cream shop that will leave you feeling truly satisfied (optional). At the end, we will return to Cusco in our private transportation, following the same route as in the morning. Around 6:00 pm, our tour will conclude after being dropped off at your hotel.

Day 4: Tour to the colorful mountains with their majestic glaciers // Tour to Rainbow Mountain - Vinicunca

An exciting day awaits us, filled with landscapes, rivers, and colorful mountains, where we'll observe alpacas and llamas in their natural habitat and meet local people who live in the mountains. Once in Cusipata, we'll enjoy a delicious and energizing breakfast before continuing by car to Llacto, the starting point of our hike. After a 1-hour ride in our private transportation, we'll descend to almost 4,600 meters above sea level. Before starting, our team will provide recommendations for our tour and provide you with walking sticks to use during the hike. From here to the viewpoint, we'll enjoy the presence of alpacas, llamas, wildlife, local people, and, above all, the impressive distant view of the Ausangate snow-capped mountain for approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes. For the classic photo, it's necessary to ascend to 5,036 meters (16,466 feet). The beauty of this place is unique, with its colorful mountains, due to the different minerals found in its soil. At this point, we'll stand atop the world's seven-color mountain. This will be a unique moment where we'll have time to meditate and connect with nature, feel our heartbeat, and feel alive. Many say it resembles a scene from another planet, never seen before. Don't worry about time; you'll have plenty of space to take photographs and enjoy the peace at the top of the mountain. Finally, in the afternoon, we'll return to the starting point and enjoy a buffet lunch in the village to recharge our batteries. Once we're finished, satisfied and with our hearts full from having experienced the best of Cusco, we'll head back to your hotel, arriving at approximately 5:00 p.m.

Day 5: Time to go home // Mobility will transfer you to the airport

Rejoicing after an extraordinary adventure, it's time to bid farewell to Cusco. After breakfast, we'll pick you up from your hotel and transfer you to the airport at least two hours before your scheduled departure time, according to your flight schedule.

Physical Challenge:

The hike to Rainbow Mountain and Humantay Lagoon involves a steep path and a very early start. Prepare for a moderate physical challenge. Follow the guide's advice on which foods are suitable and which are not. You can train in your hometown with short hikes at least two days a week.

Hiking and Exploring:

A full-day hike involves a lot of walking and exploring; wear comfortable clothing, hats, and comfortable shoes, and enjoy a full-day adventure.

Packing Guide:

The clothing and equipment you'll need depends on the tour and the time of year you're traveling. In general, we recommend packing light, comfortable clothing for the day, a jacket or sweater for cool evenings, comfortable hiking shoes, sunscreen, sunglasses, and a reusable water bottle.

Documentation:

Passport and visa. Make sure your passport is valid for at least 6 months from your planned departure date. Citizens of many countries, including the US, Canada, the UK, and most of Europe, do not need a visa for tourist visits to Peru for up to 90 days. Travel insurance. Consider purchasing travel insurance that covers medical emergencies, trip cancellations, and any high-altitude trekking activities. It is not mandatory for this trip, but we STRONGLY recommend having one in case you need it. Please carefully review the expiration date and restrictions.

Vaccinations:

Consult with your healthcare provider about recommended vaccinations before traveling to Peru, especially to high-altitude or jungle regions, where the yellow fever vaccine is recommended.

Health Care

Altitude Concerns: Some parts of the itinerary exceed altitudes that can be risky. Take precautions and be alert for symptoms of altitude sickness; it is recommended to seek medical advice beforehand, especially if you have pre-existing conditions, heart problems, or are overweight. Be aware of altitude changes, especially during treks and stays at high altitudes; follow the instructions provided regarding altitude sickness. If you feel really strong, you can ask your doctor for some pills or simply drink coca tea; it always helps! Health Precautions: Follow the guide's recommendations and let us know if you have heart problems or if you ever experience cardiac arrest; it is very important to report it so that appropriate precautions can be taken. Bring all necessary medications (consult your primary care physician), insect repellent, and a basic first aid kit.

Physical Preparation:

Some activities require physical fitness; make sure you are adequately prepared for hikes, walks, and adventure activities. Don't forget to hike before traveling to Peru; this will help you be better prepared.

Family-friendly:

This tour offers various family-friendly activities. And for some activities involving higher altitude and physical demands, it's very important to know your limits and not push yourself too hard. The Rainbow Mountain and Humantay Lagoon activities are the most challenging. If you have difficulty walking, you can consider other alternatives, such as renting horses, to get to the sites.

Appropriate Ages:

Many parts of the itinerary are family-friendly and welcome children of all ages. However, some activities, such as the Rainbow Mountain hike, involve moderate physical activity and may be more suitable for older children or those comfortable hiking. As an option on the mountain, horses can be rented to assist with the hike.

Food and Drink

Peruvian Dishes: Peru is famous for its varied and flavorful cuisine. Be sure to try seafood dishes like ceviche (raw fish marinated in lemon juice), lomo saltado (sautéed beef), and causa limeña (mashed potatoes). Try local dishes like chiri uchú, the signature dish of Cusco cuisine. If you like eating food at street/fast food stalls, or on the go, make sure they are always safe and hygienic, as a bad decision could ruin your trip.
Pisco Sour: A popular Peruvian cocktail made with pisco (grape brandy), lemon juice, simple syrup, egg white, and bitters. It's a must-try drink that perfectly reflects Peru's culinary culture.
Altitude and Diet:At higher altitudes, you may be offered lighter meals, such as chicken soup, for the first few days. Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated, especially at higher altitudes.
Vegetarian/Vegan Options:While Peruvian cuisine is primarily meat and seafood-based, many places offer vegetarian and vegan dishes. Inform your guides or restaurants in advance of any dietary restrictions or food allergies, and they will often accommodate your needs.

Culture:

Handicrafts:Every place has its own charm; remember to bring cash, preferably in Peruvian soles, to buy souvenirs. Many places now accept cards, but cash is the most effective payment method in places where there's no signal.
Machu Picchu "classic view": At Machu Picchu, we must keep in mind that Peru has two seasons: the rainy season and the dry season. Machu Picchu is located at the edge of the jungle at 2,500 meters above sea level. This can sometimes make it appear cloudy in the mornings, or during the rainy season, it could be covered in fog, but this rarely happens.
Tipping Culture:Tipping rules in Peru for tour guides, drivers, and other service providers are not fixed. We always recommend giving a personal acknowledgment, but it's not mandatory; it depends on your willingness and satisfaction with them.

Climate:

Climate Variation:The climate can vary by region; be sure to bring appropriate clothing for different climates, especially for different altitudes such as the Rainbow Mountains or the winter months of May, June, and July being the coldest in our region.
Seasons in Cusco:Cusco has two specific seasons: the rainy season (November to March) and the dry season (April to October). The dry season is during the months of June, July, and August, which are the coldest months.

Communication

Language:In Peru, the official languages are Spanish and Quechua, but in tourist destinations like Cusco, many people speak English because of their tourism jobs.
Connectivity:In cities like Lima and Cusco, you'll find good internet connectivity. However, in more remote areas, such as the Andes or while hiking, you should keep in mind that you won't be connected to Wi-Fi or the internet. Expect limited or no internet access on some routes, such as Rainbow Mountain.
